Davis, David

(9 mar. 1815, cond. de Cecil, Md., EE.UU.–26 jun. 1886, Bloomington, Ill.).

Jurista estadounidense. En 1835 se tituló de abogado en Yale y ejerció su profesión en Bloomington a partir del año siguiente. En 1844 fue elegido miembro del poder legislativo de Illinois. Como juez de tribunal de circuito estadual (1848–62) trabó amistad con Abraham Lincoln y trabajó afanosamente en su campaña presidencial en 1860. En 1862, Lincoln lo nombró juez de la Corte Suprema de los Estados Unidos de América (1862–77). Renunció a ese cargo para aceptar la elección al senado (1877–83).
